While driving for work I spied this tree. The trunk appears fine, but the whole top half is sliced off.
Have you heard of the expression “cut off at the knees”? In a fight a person can hit his opponent right behind the knees and down he’ll go – cut off at the knees. It’s the way you feel when everything seems to be going wrong. You feel like you have no control and down you go.
All is not lost. You might not be in control, but God is. The writer of Psalm 42:5 put it this way,
“Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise Him, my Savior and my God.”
We all experience times when we feel all hope is gone, but it’s not. We always have our hope in God. He provides hope when we think there is none to be found.
Turn to God. Put your hope in Him, not in worldly things. God’s hope will not fade away or leave us. It’s there 24/7.
Reach out to God. Cling to Him and the hope He will install in you. You don’t have to feel cut off at the knees.
Christmas is fast approaching. From now til Christmas children everywhere are hoping they’ll get the presents they’ve asked for.
As young adults we hoped to find the right person to spend the rest of our lives with. We hoped to get the job we applied for. Now that we’ve bought a house we hope we can keep up the payments. Hope is a major part in everyone’s lives. When all hope is gone depression usually sets in.
There is one hope that we never need to give up on. That’s the hope in Jesus Christ.
“For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he already has? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.” (Romans 8:24-25)
Our hope in Jesus Christ is for His return to earth and for the place waiting for us in heaven.
We may lose hope in earthly thngs. We can not always depend on worldly promises.
However, we can rely on the heavenly promises. Jesus will most definitely return someday. Also, if we believe in Jesus, there is a place waiting for us in heaven.
Do not lost hope in Jesus. Wait patiently for the things He has promised. They will happen in God’s timing.
It’s the middle of winter. We have had many of the normal dreary days typical during the winter months. Today, however, is different. The sun is shining. There’s a blue sky without a single cloud. It gives you hope of the spring weather yet to come. Sometimes in our lives we face dreary days as well. Days when we feel all is lost, there’s no hope nor a chance of seeing brighter days. But all is not lost. There is hope through Jesus Christ. Paul tells us in Romans 12:12, “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” God knows when we are suffering. He has not left us. Keep praying, be patient. Hope is never lost when we are with Jesus. The sun will begin to shine through again.
