The writer of Psalm 42 wrote, “As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?” (Psalm 42:1-2)
All animals search for sources of water, as humans do too, especially when it’s very hot and humid. The ice cold water is so refreshing.
Do we “pant” for the Living Water, Jesus Christ? As the deer is focused on finding the stream to survive, are we focused on Jesus for our survival?
We can go without food for quite a while, but water is needed to keep our organs functioning. The water Jesus provides keeps our souls functioning.
The Psalmist also asked a question, “When can I go and meet with God?”
The answer for believers is: “Anytime we want to.”
Through Jesus Christ the way is open to God for us 24/7. We don’t have to wait until we are in church on Sunday, or when a pastor or elder is available to pray for us. We can meet with God on our own anytime day or night.
Does you soul pant for the Living Water? You can be refreshed everyday through prayer and reading the Bible. Let Jesus Christ be the sustainer of your soul.
