Things need to be washed. We wash our cars. Dishes have to be cleaned either by hand or in a dishwasher. Our dogs need baths. We should take baths or showers daily because poor hygiene can lead to health issues. Removing dirt, oils, and grime is a part of life.
When we were baptised it symbolized a washing from our sinful lives. Then another washing happens when we personally accept Jesus.
“But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy. He saved us through the WASHING of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by His grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.” (Titus 3:4-7)
Christians are washed clean through the blood of Jesus. Our sins are forgiven and we have the Holy Spirit to help us try to sin no more. A life in heaven, dressed in white, standing around the throne of God, awaits us. Have you been washed by the blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ?
