The cornerstone at Trinity Reformed Church, Grand Haven, MI.

On public buildings you can usually find a cornerstone on a lower corner of the building. This stone shows the date the building was constructed. It is part of the foundation.

Likewise, as Christians, our lives are built on the foundation set by God, with Jesus as the cornerstone.

“Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God’s people and members of God’s household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. In Him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. and in Him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by His Spirit.”  (Ephesians 2:19-22)

We are still being built as we mature in our relationship with Jesus. As long as we stay on the firm foundation laid out for us by God we will grow strong and His Spirit will live in us. Is Jesus the cornerstone, the foundation on which you are building your life?
