I like looking at the sky. During the summer when the sky is blue I view the fluffy white clouds. Remember as a child looking at the clouds for formations of other objects? When a storm is coming in off Lake Michigan I observe the change in the sky. On a clear night I’ll sometimes search for the constillations I remember from school. Or, as the picture shows, I’ll look up through the trees to see how the sunlight shines through.
In Colossians 3:1-2 Pauls tells us, “Since, then, you have been raised in Christ, set you hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set you minds on things above, not on earthly things.”
As the clouds change and the stars fade, so does everything of this earth. Nothing of this world is permanent. However, everything heavenly is eternal. Our hearts should be focused there.
The next time you are looking upward enjoy the beauty God has created, but also, meditate on what is beyond – Christ sitting on the throne in heaven.
