Have you ever noticed how easy it is to focus on the negative things, the problems in our lives, and forget the good things that have happened? In the movie “Pretty Woman” Vivian talks about how much easier it is to believe the bad stuff. What if we try to focus on the good stuff? Then, maybe, the problems won’t seem so out of proportion.
God has bestowed many blessings on us, the biggest being the gift of eternal life through Jesus. We are told in Deuteronomy 28:6, “You will be blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out.”
“Blessings crown the head of the righteous...” (Proverbs 10:6a)
“A faithful man will be richly blessed. . . .” (Proverbs 28:20a)
Look back over the last week. Concentrate on the positive things that happened. You might be surprised at how good the week really was. Satan is working on us if we only focus on our problems. I want you to remember these words from a classic hymn:
“When upon life’s billows you are tempest tossed, When you are discouraged thinking all is lost. Count your many blessings name them one by one, And it will surprise you what the Lord has done.”
