Sailors rely on lighthouses, especially during heavy fog or storms, to alert them that a port is near, or beware of rocks, or watch out for shallow water. The light is a guide for ships to follow.
We live in a dark world full of sin. Without a light to guide us we would wander around in the darkness with no sense of direction. There is a light available to us and that light is Jesus Christ. Just as sailors rely on lighthouses to guide them, we need to rely on Jesus to help us maneuver through the darkness of this world. Also, once we have the light of Jesus we are to become a light for others, guiding them to Jesus as well.
“For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ made His light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.” (2 Corinthians 4:6)
Have you sought out the light of Jesus Christ, the light only He can give? If you already have this light, are you being a beacon for others to follow, leading them also to Christ?
